Edmonton police have identified a person of interest in an alleged child luring incident on June 14 that left two teenagers shaken and their parents alarmed. The two 14-year-old girls were walking near 18A Avenue S.W. and Rutherford Road S.W. when a grey Chrysler Pacifica van with heavily tinted windows pulled up. Five to six men, estimated to be in their 30s and 40s, shouted at the girls in an attempt to lure them into the vehicle. The van was driving erratically with its side door open. The girls' parents told police the van made a U-turn and came back toward them, escalating their fear. The girls yelled for help and ran. A nearby woman called 911, and the van quickly fled. Police released photos of two vehicles—the grey van and a silver vehicle that may have been involved—along with a photo of the person of interest believed to be driving the second vehicle. The identification came after the public appeal Thursday. The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Edmonton police.
