Three row housing buildings caught fire Tuesday, August 11, near 98 Street and 152 Avenue in north Edmonton, with firefighters taking hours to bring the blaze under control.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services received multiple reports around 1:43 p.m. and crews arrived within five minutes. As smoke poured from multiple row housing units, firefighters called a second-alarm shortly after arriving. By 3:13 p.m., crews were still actively fighting the fire.
The blaze ultimately affected three separate buildings. By 4:16 p.m., two of the three buildings were declared fully extinguished, with crews continuing to ensure the last building was completely out.
According to research gathered for this story, six residents were treated and transported by EMS to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Police assisted residents as they exited the buildings while firefighters began suppressing the fire.
