A 47-year-old Edmonton school custodian has been charged with child sexual exploitation offences after being arrested at his home Thursday.

Crispolo (Cris) Comillas worked at Louis St. Laurent Catholic Junior/Senior High School and was taken into custody following a tip routed through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. ALERT's internet child exploitation unit says he is accused of accessing and possessing child sexual exploitation materials. Investigators are analyzing a computer and electronic devices seized from his home.

"While the investigation and charges are related to online offences, the nature of the Comillas' employment at the school put him in direct contact with youth," ALERT stated in a release.

Comillas is scheduled to appear in court Monday, July 6. The allegations have not been tested in court.
