This week Edmonton trades sunshine for cloud cover. Rain dominates Sunday through Friday—a genuine wet stretch that peaks Sunday at 94 percent chance—meaning your move is indoors first, patios only on the clearer edge. By Saturday the drizzle lightens, but temperatures stay cool and variable. Plan accordingly.

The Guess Who land at Rogers Place on Wednesday at 7:30 PM, and this is the week's main event. The Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg in 1958 and owned the late 1960s and early 1970s with "American Woman," "These Eyes," "No Time," and "Laughing"—songs that still dominate classic-rock radio. If you grew up on those tracks or you're a parent who did, this is a genuine occasion; a Canadian institution on home ice. Ticket details and pricing are available through Rogers Place.

Bob Log III arrives Tuesday at The Starlite Room at 8:00 PM for $20 and up. He is a one-man slide-guitar phenomenon from Tucson and Melbourne who performs in a full-body human cannonball suit with a helmet wired to a telephone receiver, freeing his hands and feet for old Silvertone archtop guitars and drums simultaneously. The show is pure spectacle and musicianship fused into something genuinely odd—exactly the kind of Tuesday night that breaks the routine.

Windersleep, the Halifax indie rock band formed in 2001, takes The Starlite Room for four performances across Wednesday at 8:00 PM. They anchor a heavy music night (The Guess Who play the same evening across town), so pick your venue and commitment level accordingly.

Comedy lands Thursday through Saturday. Jessimae Peluso, the American stand-up and MTV Girl Code cast member, performs four shows at Rick Bronson's—The Comic Strip from June 11 to 13. Terry Fator, the Dallas-born ventriloquist, impressionist, and singer, takes The Pearl Showroom at Pure Casino Yellowhead on Friday at 8:00 PM. Both offer live comedy in a week heavy on music.

The Stampeders, the Canadian rock trio, play Winspear Centre on Monday at 7:30 PM—a solid opener to the week if classic rock is your anchor.

Outside the stages, the city itself is in transition. Brio Bakery opens a new Mill Creek location as the Whyte-area outpost expands under new ownership—a chance to grab excellent bread before or after your week's shows. Downtown grocery anchor Sunterra Market closed its Commerce Place location after 32 years, leaving a gap in the core; the Lendrum location remains open if you need to restock. St. Faith's Anglican Church on Alberta Avenue is planning a five-story multiplex housing 40 families on its century-old property, backed by new city funding—a major shift for that neighbourhood.

For eating and shelter during a wet week, JINYA Ramen Bar sits perfectly at midweek: warm noodles and broth for Wednesday when rain peaks. Commodore Restaurant, the classic diner, handles a rainy Sunday breakfast before The Guess Who. Bianco works Friday lunch before Terry Fator's evening show.

If you get one night this week, choose The Guess Who on Wednesday: Edmonton doesn't see Canadian rock legacy like this often, and Rogers Place guarantees a full room of people who know every word.
