Montreal is marking a half-century since hosting the 1976 Summer Olympics with a full day of celebration at Parc Jean-Drapeau on July 4, capped by a free concert from Valaire's electronic project Qualité Motel.

The day unfolds as a sporting and cultural festival. Visitors can tour the Bassin olympique and Athletes' Quarter, watch live kayak, rowing, and dragon boat training, meet Olympians and coaches, and try introductory sessions in water disciplines. Athletes including Émilie Fournel, Guylaine Bernier, and Lyne Tremblay will share their Olympic journeys and reflect on the evolution of women in elite sport since 1976.

The afternoon musical program begins with the Urban Science Brass Band, leading into Qualité Motel's electro-pop set in the evening. Free admission; bring a picnic or grab food on-site. The celebration positions the historic Olympic venue as a living hub for the city's sporting memory and community gathering.
