Montreal Police are searching for a suspect believed responsible for multiple sexual assaults committed between 2006 and 2012 in Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

On Thursday, the SPVM's Sexual Assault Unit will set up a mobile command post at the intersection of Fleury Street East and Curotte Avenue (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) to meet with the public and gather information that could lead to the suspect's identification.

During the assaults, the suspect attacked victims from behind, covered their mouths with his hand, and demanded sexual acts before fleeing on foot. On some occasions, he used a knife to threaten them.

The SPVM has released two composite sketches — one from 2006 and one from 2012 — to help with identification. The suspect is described as a white male, 5'9" tall, French-speaking, and between 40 and 50 years old at the time of the incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sexual Assault Unit at 514-799-7225. Police have also released a podcast with additional details on the investigation.

The command post presence on Fleury signals the SPVM's effort to make the investigation visible and accessible to the neighborhoods most affected.
