Québec solidaire is demanding concrete and rapid action from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal after allegations that evidence was destroyed to protect a man from domestic violence charges.
Roxane Milot, the party's public security critic, said in a release issued Oct. 30 that the allegations are a further blow after racism and other misconduct cases. She said SPVM chief Fady Dagher had announced other investigations are under way and that at least two neighbourhood police stations are concerned. "Je ne suis pas convaincue que ces histoires sont des cas isolés," she said, asking how many others there might be.
Earlier, the SPVM announced that an officer at a Poste de quartier is under criminal investigation over an allegation of domestic violence. Milot said she wants the causes examined systematically and the SPVM rebuilt as a system.
