A private plane suffered a landing accident at the Longueuil airport on Thursday, July 16, requiring emergency response and temporarily disrupting commercial flights.

The Montreal Metropolitan Airport (MET) reported an "incident involving a private aircraft during a landing maneuver." The sole occupant was transported to a hospital, and officials said there are no fears for his life.

Fire departments from the airport and the Longueuil agglomeration responded quickly to the scene. The runway was temporarily closed while responders assessed the situation and completed necessary inspections.

"The required inspections and verifications having been completed, airport security is fully restored and all airport operations can resume in safe conditions," the MET said Thursday evening. Flights had been delayed due to the closure, but operations resumed once the runway reopened.
