A man with hearing and speech disabilities was struck by a delivery van near the intersection of Jean-Paul-Vincent Boulevard and rue de la Métropole in Longueuil on Tuesday, October 20 around 1:40 p.m., sustaining life-threatening injuries.

The man was on a mobility scooter when the driver of a delivery van making a left turn at the intersection hit him. His partner, also using a mobility device, had just crossed the boulevard on a green light and was walking ahead when the collision occurred. A witness at the scene described finding the man on the pavement as his partner stood nearby.

Longueuil police (SPAL) established a security perimeter and closed Jean-Paul-Vincent Boulevard and rue de la Métropole to traffic as of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The man was transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, according to a SPAL statement. Police have not released the victim's name or age, nor have they identified the driver or laid charges.

HighOnCity reported in June that a motorcyclist in his 20s was seriously injured in a collision in Longueuil, and in October that a man was in critical condition after a single-vehicle collision near Longueuil.
