A 60-year-old man was struck by a vehicle and critically injured Saturday night on Papineau Avenue near St-Zotique Street East in the Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie borough.
Montreal police received multiple 911 calls just before midnight. Officers found the victim on the ground in a semi-conscious state with several injuries and transported him to hospital in critical condition. Doctors later declared him out of danger.
The driver, a 22-year-old woman, was in shock but uninjured. According to police spokesman Johany Charland, initial reports indicate the vehicle was traveling southbound on Papineau when it struck the pedestrian crossing the street.
Police established a security perimeter at the scene, which has since been cleared. Charland said there is no evidence suggesting a criminal act caused the incident. The investigation is no longer ongoing.
