A 64-year-old driver is recovering in hospital after his vehicle collided with another car and crashed into an apartment building Friday, July 3 in Anjou.

Montreal police responded to the intersection of Châteauneuf Boulevard and Baldwin Street shortly after 6 p.m. According to police, the driver was traveling on Châteauneuf Boulevard when he changed lanes, struck another vehicle, and continued into the apartment building. Police have not yet determined what caused the lane change.

The driver was initially transported to hospital in critical condition but is now out of danger. A woman in her 40s driving the second vehicle was also taken to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

A collision reconstruction investigator has been assigned to determine what led to the crash. Police said they will interview the 64-year-old driver once his condition allows. The investigation is ongoing.
