An 83-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after crashing his vehicle near the foot of the Jacques-Cartier Bridge early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the single-vehicle collision at about 3 a.m., according to the Sûreté du Québec. Police said the driver left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation before striking a tree. No other vehicles were involved.
