Two brush fires erupt near Montreal Metropolitan Airport on South Shore Monday

Two brush fires broke out Monday afternoon along a railway track near Montreal Metropolitan Airport on the South Shore, prompting a large response from Longueuil fire services.
Firefighters responded to calls around 4:20 p.m. on Rue de l'Aéroport. According to Longueuil fire service division chief Alain Lessard, the brush fire had several spots along a one-kilometre stretch of railroad track. A second brush fire was also found near the intersection of Rue Desautels and Highway 116.
More than 20 firefighters from six different fire stations as well as crews from the airport's own fire department were involved in the operation. The fire was brought under control around 6 p.m. There were no injuries or damages reported.
The cause of the fires remains unknown at this time.
