East Montréal and Quartier Latin receive $2.3M in government funding for revitalization projects

Montréal's East End and Quartier Latin are receiving $2.3 million in government investment to support revitalization efforts across five projects designed to increase attractiveness and generate lasting economic benefits.

The Chambre de commerce de l'Est de Montréal will receive $795,000 to accelerate revitalization in strategic sectors, while the Partenariat du Quartier des spectacles gets $730,000 to deploy a comprehensive revitalization strategy centered on creating a public plaza around the Saint-Laurent metro station and installing a luminous pathway along Sainte-Catherine Est between Saint-Laurent and Saint-Denis.

The Société de développement commercial du Quartier latin will use $650,000 to create a strong visual identity for the neighbourhood, while Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec will develop a temporary outdoor space north of the Grande Bibliothèque ($92,000) to maintain vitality during nearby construction work. UQAM is receiving $26,443 to pursue official historic recognition of Quartier Latin.

The projects aim to strengthen economic vitality, boost attractiveness and reinforce francophone identity in both neighbourhoods.
