Quebec and Canada have committed funding to complete the final phase of Val-Martin, one of Quebec's largest affordable housing revitalization projects, in Laval.
The funding will support construction of 140 new affordable rental units (HLM) on the south sector's Îlot sud. Earlier phases have already delivered 124 renovated HLM units and 235 new affordable housing units, plus the Simonne-Monet-Chartrand community centre.
An open call for bids is underway to finalize the budget and construction timeline. The project represents a major commitment to housing for low-income families in a neighbourhood that has undergone significant revitalization over recent years. Minister of Housing Karine Boivin Roy called Val-Martin "a symbol of a vision for the long term" reflecting the government's commitment to increasing affordable housing supply across Quebec.
