CSQ challenges new union governance law in Superior Court

Federation of Labour Unions files constitutional challenge over mandatory transparency rules

The Québec Federation of Labour Unions (CSQ) filed a legal challenge Friday to Quebec's new union governance and transparency law, which the 235,000-member federation calls "unconstitutional, arbitrary, and unfair." The law, introduced by Labour Minister Jean Boulet, requires unions to file financial statements and allows optional supplementary dues beyond standard membership fees. The CSQ argues the legislation violates constitutional protections and will be heard in Superior Court.
