Montreal-bound drivers on Highway 40 should plan alternate routes this week as overnight closures continue on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge for inspections and leveling and paving work.
From Monday to Wednesday, Highway 40 eastbound, including the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge, will be closed between Exit 35 and the entrance from Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants from midnight to 5 a.m. Another eastbound closure is scheduled Thursday, August 27, at 10 p.m. through Friday, August 28, at 5 a.m. between Exit 41 and the next entrance.
The Highway 40 westbound service road will also close Monday at 10:30 p.m. to Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. between Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants and Exit 40.
Tolls on Highway 30 will be suspended during the bridge closures. Work may be postponed depending on weather conditions.
Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and plan alternate routes. The closures began Sunday night and will continue through the week as part of the broader reconstruction effort.
