A memorial ceremony honouring Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, the Montreal police officer killed in a shooting last week, will take place Tuesday, July 7 at the Bell Centre.
Benredouane, 34, died on June 22 in a shootout in the Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood. A civilian, Michel Mizrahi, 68, and a 25-year-old assailant from Alberta also died in the incident. His death marked the first police officer killed in the line of duty in Montreal since 2002.
Benredouane had been an SPVM officer since 2021 and was a father with a second child on the way. A funeral was held two days after his death at the Islamic Centre of Quebec mosque in Saint-Laurent.
The SPVM said the exact time and details for attending the memorial will be announced soon.
