Montreal heat peaks this weekend with highs of 28–29°C and very high UV

Saturday and Sunday bring sunshine and humidity, with the humidex reaching 31–32°C. Warmest day arrives Wednesday with a high of 31°C before showers move in Thursday.

Update — July 24, 2026: Montreal is expanding a heat relief program that distributes free cooling kits to vulnerable residents, nearly doubling the initiative from its 2024 pilot phase. About 2,200 kits containing fans, spray bottles, thermometers and health information will be distributed across Côte-des-Neiges and Park Extension this summer, with funding secured through summer 2027.

Montrealers can expect classic summer weather this weekend as a warm pattern settles in through mid-week.

Saturday, July 4 will feature a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 28°C. The humidex will make it feel like 31°C, and the UV index is very high at 9. Northwest winds will increase to 20 km/h in the morning, then become light tonight with an overnight low of 17°C.

Sunday, July 5 brings wall-to-wall sunshine with a high of 29°C and a humidex of 32°C. The UV index remains very high at 8. Cloudy periods move in Sunday night with a low of 19°C.

The warm pattern continues into the workweek. Monday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 29°C. Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 29°C. Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day of the stretch, with sunny skies and a high of 31°C.

By Thursday, July 9, the forecast turns more unsettled with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 27°C. Friday is also expected to be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 26°C.
