Public health authorities in Montréal have warned consumers not to eat raspberry pastries from Boulangerie Ange after detecting possible norovirus contamination in products sold in early September.

The contamination traces to frozen whole raspberries, brand Alasko, imported from China and distributed across Canada. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency initiated a recall of the Alasko berries after the virus was detected.

Affected products and locations include: tarte aux framboises and tartelette aux framboises sold September 9–11 at 3165 Rue Masson; tarte aux framboises, tartelette aux framboises, and danoise aux framboises sold September 1–11 at 1500 Avenue Atwater (also distributed via Too Good To Go); and tarte aux framboises, tartelette aux framboises, and danoise aux framboises sold September 11 at 345 Avenue Viger Ouest (also sold via Uber Eats). Products may have been distributed online or through community organizations in the region.

The products are packaged in cardboard boxes and refrigerated, with some labeled "Boulangerie Ange." They show no visible signs of deterioration or suspicious odour but may be contaminated. Consumers who have these items should not eat them.

Norovirus symptoms—nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, muscle pain, fatigue, fever, chills, and headache—typically appear 24–48 hours after consuming contaminated food. Anyone experiencing symptoms should consult a health professional. As of Friday, few cases of illness linked to Alasko brand frozen raspberries had been reported to MAPAQ.

MAPAQ classified the warning as risk class 1 (reference number 5806). Consumers with questions can contact smsaia@mapaq.gouv.qc.ca.
