Montreal Police arrested a 27-year-old suspect Wednesday in connection with a shooting at Club École Privée on Saint-Laurent Boulevard near Milton Street that left two innocent women injured.

The incident happened May 9 around 3 a.m. when a conflict broke out inside the club in the Plateau-Mont-Royal. A shot was fired, striking two women—ages 19 and 25—who were not involved in the dispute. Both were hit in the legs and taken to hospital; both survived.

A tall suspect in dark clothing was seen fleeing on foot. The arrest came more than a month later following investigation by the SPVM's Northern Project Investigation Section.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court Thursday. The Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions will determine the charge(s).

Commander David Paradis noted that gun violence crimes have decreased by more than 50 per cent across the city since 2021, but incidents like this show the ongoing work needed to keep nightlife areas safe.
