Montreal police have arrested a 20-year-old suspect in connection with a triple stabbing in a St-Laurent park last August that left one young man dead and two others injured.

The incident occurred on August 16, 2025, around 9:15 p.m. near Jules-Poitras Street and Deguire Boulevard. Emergency responders found three men with upper-body stab wounds. A 22-year-old victim was taken to hospital but died from his injuries, marking the 26th homicide on the island of Montreal that year. Two 19-year-old men survived their injuries.

The arrest was made Thursday afternoon in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension. The suspect is expected to appear at Montreal courthouse Friday to face charges including second-degree murder and aggravated assault.

The case is part of a broader effort to solve violent crimes across the city. Police say the clearance rate for homicides committed on the island in 2025 has now reached 84 per cent, with 26 of 31 cases solved. Anyone with information about violent incidents is urged to contact 911 or Info-Crime Montréal at 514-393-1133 or online, with potential rewards up to $5,000.
