A 42-year-old man was stabbed during an altercation at the corner of Sainte-Catherine Street and De Lorimier Avenue on Sunday, September 20 around 11:50 a.m. in Ville-Marie.
The victim was injured in the upper body with a sharp object and was conscious when taken to hospital, where authorities say he is out of danger. A 37-year-old man fled the scene on foot but was arrested. Police set up a perimeter at the location while investigators attended to determine the circumstances of the assault.
The incident marks another armed assault in downtown Montreal. In July, a 32-year-old man was stabbed early on a Thursday; in early September, an armed assault occurred near Drummond and René-Lévesque; and in June, another man was hospitalized following an assault near Sherbrooke and Saint-Laurent.
