Update — July 25, 2026: A 45-year-old man was hospitalized following a stabbing in downtown Montreal on Saturday, 4 April, near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Chomedey streets. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. after a conflict escalated between several people, and the victim was found conscious with a wound to his upper body. His condition has since stabilized from critical, and police are continuing their investigation with witness interviews and surveillance footage review, with no arrests made to date.

A 32-year-old man was found with stabbing injuries in downtown Montreal early Thursday morning in what police are investigating as an armed assault.

Officers on patrol discovered the injured man near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine Street and Hôtel-de-Ville Avenue around 3 a.m. in the Ville-Marie Borough. He was conscious and had sustained injuries to his upper body from a sharp object. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chevrefils said the circumstances surrounding the assault remain unknown. "Despite extensive research, the police officers were unable to locate the scene of the armed assault," she said.

Police are investigating possible surveillance camera footage from the area. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
