PQ leads latest poll at 30 percent; Liberals and CAQ tie for second at 23 percent

The Parti Québécois of Paul St-Pierre Plamondon holds a commanding lead heading into Quebec's provincial election with 30 percent in the latest Léger voter intention poll for Le journal-TVA Nouvelles.

The Quebec Liberals under Charles Milliard and Premier Christine Fréchette's Coalition Avenir Québec are now locked in a tie for second at 23 percent each. The Liberals saw a one-point drop from the previous poll, while the CAQ jumped three points—a consolidation that has come at the expense of Québec solidaire.

Political analyst Daniel Tran characterized the movement as voters settling on their choices. "Parti Québécois remains at 30 percent," Tran said. "What we're seeing is consolidation of where voters are targeting their votes. For the Liberal Party and CAQ, they're starting to see a neck-and-neck race."

St-Pierre Plamondon said the PQ's consistency reflects the quality of its proposals rather than poll volatility. Milliard countered that the only poll that matters is the one on October 5. Fréchette brushed off the numbers, saying her focus is steering Quebec forward and protecting Quebecers while advancing the province's businesses.

Separately, former Quebec Liberal leader Pablo Rodriguez appears to have been cleared of allegations related to the party's 2025 leadership race. The Chief Electoral Officer of Quebec and Quebec's Permanent Anti-Corruption Unit (UPAC) have found no evidence of a vote-buying scheme involving $100 bills, according to sources cited by La Presse. Elections Quebec confirmed the Chief Electoral Officer's investigation has concluded and a report is being prepared. A prosecutor will then analyze the evidence to determine whether any violations of the Election Act occurred, a spokesperson said, with the process potentially taking several months.
