Quebec voters have until October 1, 2026, at 2 p.m. to register to vote or change their address for the provincial election on October 5. After that deadline, no further corrections to the voter list are possible, and anyone not registered cannot vote.
Registration and address changes apply to those who moved or will move prior to September 21. Both can be done online or in person at the returning officer's office.
Voters have multiple ways to cast a ballot before election day. Advance polls open September 27 and 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The returning officer's office also offers in-person voting on September 25 (9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.), September 26 (9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.), September 29 (9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.), September 30 (9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.), and October 1 (9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
Voters outside Quebec can apply to vote by mail by September 16. The deadline to return a mail-in ballot is 8 p.m. on October 5. Those voting by mail will receive instructions, a ballot paper, and three envelopes.
If you cannot vote in person, you can request at-home voting by September 21 by contacting the returning officer by telephone, fax, or mail. At-home voters may include an informal caregiver if that person also wishes to vote.
On election day, employers must give workers up to four hours off between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. with no reduction in pay.
Voters can check their status online through Elections Québec or on the yellow reminder card mailed the week before the election. The reminder card lists the voter's specific polling station and hours. One piece of government-issued identification is required to vote, though the reminder card speeds up the process.
