Quebec high school students and parents spent several anxious hours Tuesday unable to access the online portal for ministry exam results, with thousands locked out during a critical window to register for make-up exams.

Thousands were unable to login to the ministry's website for several hours. Education Ministry spokesperson Bryan St-Louis said the issues were resolved "by late afternoon," though the cause remains under investigation.

Education Minister Sonia LeBel acknowledged the fallout on X Tuesday afternoon: "We fully understand the frustration of students and their parents who are trying to check the results online, without success." She said ministry teams were working actively to resolve the situation.

Social media filled with anxious parents and students. One user posted: "If the Ministry of Education is judging itself by its website for checking our children's grades, there's a lot of work to be done."

St-Louis said the ministry asked school officials to directly contact students who failed exams to minimize the impact and inform them of next steps, including registration for summer courses or make-up exams. Official transcripts are expected to be mailed out in the next few weeks.
