The indefinite strike by members of the professional association of government engineers of Quebec (APIGQ) began July 6 and involves 1,900 engineers primarily stationed at the Ministry of Transport, but also at the Ministries of Environment, Municipal Affairs, and Cybersecurity. "For some of our contractors, the 2026 season is over—it's been compromised; there will be financial losses; there will be job losses," said Caroline Amireault, executive director of the association of road and major work contractors of Quebec (ACRGTQ). She called on the Quebec government and the APIGQ to return to the negotiating table.
