The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will institute reverse-direction traffic on Route 116 (boulevard Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier) between boulevards Seigneurial Ouest and De Boucherville in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, beginning September 18 and continuing through the end of November.
During weekends, traffic will reverse from Friday at 21 h to Monday at 5 a.m., with only one lane per direction maintained. The work will pause September 26 and 27 due to the UCI Road World Championships 2026. Sporadic weekday lane closures will also occur, though two lanes will remain open during day and evening hours.
The work is necessary to replace two culverts and convert the lighting system to LED. Night work on weekdays will see closures from 21 h to 5 a.m., with one or two of three lanes closed per direction while maintaining two overall lanes. Bus-reserved lanes will also face sporadic closures, and some stops on exo line 200 may be temporarily not served or relocated—the Chrono app will indicate active changes.
On Route 116 between De Boucherville and boulevard du Millénaire in Saint-Basile-le-Grand, night-time lane closures will occur during the same period, though access to businesses will be maintained and two lanes per direction will stay open.
The ministry predicts congestion episodes and recommends drivers allow extra travel time. The project will pause for winter and resume in spring for asphalt work on the section.
