Jinjer brought raw metal power to The Bronson on Friday

Jinjer, the Ukrainian progressive metal powerhouse, launched their North American Duél Tour at The Bronson on Friday night, delivering a statement-of-intent performance that felt far more refined than a typical tour opener.

Fans lined Bronson Avenue hours before the doors opened, eager to witness the first night supporting Duél, the band's latest album. The four musicians took the stage one by one to rising screams, then rewarded that energy with a set that balanced technical brilliance with growing confidence as a live act.

Frontwoman Tatiana Shmayluk commanded the room, shifting seamlessly between soaring melodies and ferocious growls. Behind her, guitarist Roman Ibramkhalilov, bassist Eugene Abdukhanov, and drummer Vladislav Ulasevich operated with machine-like precision. The newer material from Duél hit particularly hard in the live setting—the songs carried an urgency that translated perfectly to the stage, while older fan favourites drew some of the loudest reactions of the night.

Highlights included "I Speak Astronomy," the crushing title-track "Duél," and "Pisces," the viral song that propelled the band into the spotlight. Opening act Entheos provided a powerful warm-up, setting the heavy tone for the main event and ensuring the crowd was fully engaged before Jinjer arrived.

There were no rough edges, no settling-in moments typical of opening nights on lengthy tours. The performance was polished, focused, and explosive from start to finish—a significant step forward for a band that has spent a decade steadily ascending the modern metal ranks.
