The Stittsville branch of the Ottawa Public Library is hosting a packed June calendar, anchored by a documentary screening on dementia care and a digital safety workshop.
On Sunday, June 21 at 10:30 a.m., the library screens "No More Silent Battles," a documentary that follows four Canadian families navigating the country's home care system as they cope with dementia. The film exposes gaps in bureaucratic support for caregivers. After the screening, director and medical specialist Dr. Jenny Ingram will join for a virtual Q&A. Registration is required.
Later that afternoon at 1 p.m., Chris Taylor, president of the Ottawa PC Users' Group, leads a workshop on protecting personal computers from hacking, viruses, and phishing — all using free tools. Registration required.
For those leaning creative, the library is hosting a planner and journal meet-up on Saturday, July 4 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Bring your own notebooks and stationery; the library will provide supplies like stickers, washi tape, and art materials. Registration required.
Meanwhile, the Ottawa West Arts Association is displaying member artwork titled "Colour" on the library's Art Space Wall throughout June. The works represent the artistic talent of Stittsville and surrounding residents.
Summer Reading Club registration for children opens Monday, June 8 at 10 a.m. The library's full events calendar and program details are available online.
