Stittsville Rotary Club screening four international films this fall at Landmark Cinemas Kanata

The Rotary Club of Ottawa-Stittsville is hosting a 2026 International Film Series in collaboration with the Film Circuit of the Toronto International Film Festival, offering four films at Landmark Cinemas in Kanata. Showings run from September 28 through December 14 at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. each screening day.

A series pass covering all four films costs $60. The 7:00 p.m. showings are almost sold out, but more availability remains for the 4:00 p.m. sessions. Series pass holders unable to attend individual films may send a substitute attendee. The opening film on September 28 is Meadowlarks, a 92-minute documentary by Indigenous filmmaker Tasha Hubbard (herself a Sixties Scoop survivor) about four Cree siblings separated in childhood and reunited in their fifties at a lodge in Banff. The screening honours Canada's National Day For Truth and Reconciliation.

October 26 brings Reading Lolita in Tehran, a 107-minute Persian-language film with subtitles based on Azar Nafisi's 2003 memoir. It follows an English literature professor and her husband returning to Iran in 1979 as the Islamic Revolution unfolds, portraying the lives of strong women navigating an increasingly oppressive regime.

On November 30, The Art of Adventure (86 minutes) tells the story of a 1957 expedition by wildlife artist Robert Bateman and biologist Bristol Foster traveling in a Land Rover called "The Grizzly Torque" from the UK to the Congo rainforests and India. Fifty-seven years later, the vehicle is rediscovered and restored as the tale of their environmental activism emerges.

The series concludes December 14 with Once Upon A Time In A Cinema, a 93-minute Irish film set in Limerick's defunct Royal Cinema. The movie captures one eventful Friday evening in a small-town cinema facing closure.
