Soccer fans across Ottawa have plenty of viewing options for the FIFA World Cup, which kicks off June 11 and runs through July 19. Canada is co-hosting the expanded 48-team tournament with the United States and Mexico.
Canada opens its group stage against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12 at 3 p.m., faces Qatar on June 18 at 6 p.m., and closes group play against Switzerland on June 24 at 3 p.m. Ontario has extended alcohol-service hours during the tournament, allowing bars and restaurants to stay open late for select matches with early-morning and late-night kickoffs.
Here are some top viewing spots:
Glebe Central Pub (779 Bank St.) is expected to be one of the city's busiest World Cup hubs. Known as home base for the Capital City Supporters Group and Arsenal FC fans, it will host official England viewing parties. Multiple screens and a sheltered patio—arrive early on match days.
Splitsville Bowl Kanata (255 Kanata Ave.) offers a different experience: World Cup matches mixed with bowling, arcade games, and large-screen viewing. More spacious and family-friendly than a traditional pub.
Cineplex theatres (South Keys at 2214 Bank St. and Scotiabank Theatre Ottawa at 2385 City Park Dr.) will screen matches live in partnership with TSN. Stadium-style viewing with big screens and surround sound; tickets start around $10.
Margaritas Latin Fusion (873 Bank St.) is leaning into the tournament with themed specials, extended hours, and Latin-inspired food and cocktails.
The Senate Tavern (33 Clarence St. in the ByWard Market) is a long-standing sports bar positioned as a reliable World Cup destination.
Jack Astor's (310 West Hunt Club Rd.) is adding soccer-themed décor and has plenty of seating and screens for casual viewing.
The tournament is bringing real soccer energy to the city.
