Ottawa police arrested a man in his 20s early Thursday after seizing two replica firearms and ammunition magazines near the Carleton University campus.

A man in his 20s faces multiple weapons charges after Ottawa police seized replica firearms and ammunition magazines early Thursday, June 18.

Officers responded to a report around 12:30 a.m. of a man dressed in black carrying what appeared to be an assault-style weapon near Sunnyside Avenue and Carraway Private, a short distance east of the Bronson Avenue entrance to the Carleton University campus. They located him near Seneca Street and made an arrest.

Police seized an imitation assault-style rifle, a replica handgun with a magazine, and additional magazines. The man was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, one count each of carrying a concealed weapon, common nuisance/endangering the lives or safety of the public, and mischief.
