Murder charge laid 3+ years after Granit Ahmeti killed on Farmers Way

Richard Micks, 48, of Georgian Bay was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on August 25 in connection with Granit Ahmeti's death on August 19, 2023.
Emergency responders were called to the 4000 block of Farmers Way in Ottawa's rural southeast, just east of Leitrim Road in the Piperville-Carlsbad area, at about 3:45 a.m. that day after people witnessed a shooting. Ahmeti was found with gunshot wounds and later died from his injuries. The shooting was investigated at the time as an "isolated incident."
Ahmeti, 26, was a part owner of Canadian towing. In a Facebook post at the time of his death, the company remembered him as "a selfless, loving and kind person. His energy and smile were always so contagious and his love for life was unmatched."
