Unexplained damage to O-Train overhead power lines discovered during an overnight inspection is forcing service changes on Line 1 Friday, June 26.
Trains are operating between Tunney's Pasture and Blair stations but limited to westbound platforms at uOttawa, Lees, and Hurdman stations. The damage was found on the catenary wires east of uOttawa Station, according to Transit Services associate general manager Troy Charter.
Rideau Transit Maintenance teams are on-site assessing the damage and determining a repair plan. Service is running every eight minutes. The E1 bus has been enhanced from Blair to downtown, and the R1 bus is available from Tunney's Pasture to Rideau station during morning peak to supplement Line 1. Staff will be stationed throughout the day to assist customers.
There is no immediate estimate for repairs. Commuters are asked to check social media, texts, and web updates for continued information.
