Ottawa police laid 31 charges across the city's east and south communities on October 2, with four drivers charged specifically with stunt driving after being clocked well above speed limits.

A 20-year-old on Innes Road in the east end was caught going almost double the posted limit in a 60 km/h zone, facing charges for stunt driving, speeding, and failing to stop for a yellow light. In Barrhaven, a 51-year-old was clocked at 109 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Jockvale Road. At Highway 416 and Fallowfield Road, another 20-year-old was caught at 154 km/h in a 110 km/h zone and charged with stunt driving, speeding, and failing to plainly display a licence. A 22-year-old on Strandherd Drive in Barrhaven was cited for doing 117 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, charged with stunt driving, speeding, and failing to have an insurance card.

Each of the four had their licence suspended for 30 days and vehicles impounded for 14 days. Upon conviction, they face fines ranging from $2,000 to $10,000, a one- to three-year driver's licence suspension, and possible six months in jail. All four must attend court.
