Six drivers face stunt-driving charges after a joint enforcement operation by Ottawa Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police traffic units on Labour Day, September 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Police laid 46 charges total across Highway 7 and Highway 417, six of which were for stunt driving.

A 23-year-old Ottawa resident was charged with speeding, stunt driving, and dangerous operation under the Criminal Code. The driver was operating a brother's Tesla. Other stunt-driving charges included a food delivery driver stopped on Moodie Road going 168 km/h. The vehicle was impounded immediately and the food never reached the customer. A motorcyclist, Shuai Liu, 27, of Ottawa, was clocked at 182 km/h on Highway 7 and fled from police. An OPP plane tracked Liu, who was stopped at Bank Street near Baseline Road. Liu holds an M1 licence and is prohibited from driving on 400-series highways. Charges against Liu include dangerous operation, stunt driving, speeding 50+ km/h over the limit, driving on a prohibited highway while holding an M1 licence, failure to surrender insurance card and licence, failure to surrender vehicle permit, and flight from an officer.
Stunt-driving convictions trigger immediate 30-day driving suspensions and roadside licence suspensions, with vehicles impounded for 14 days. Impaired-driving charges carry automatic suspensions and vehicle impounds.
