A severe thunderstorm is expected to hit Ottawa Monday afternoon and into the evening, bringing conditions that could produce strong winds, large hail, and heavy rain.
Environment Canada meteorologists warn of gusts up to 90 km/h, quarter or ping pong-sized hail, and possibly 50 millimetres of rain. There is a risk of a tornado, though confidence in any tornado threat is low. Power outages and damage to branches, roofs and fences are still possible.
