Ottawa Police Service's Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section is investigating a sexual assault that occurred in East Ottawa on Tuesday, July 28, around 5 p.m. on a paved path near Truro Street and Carpenter Way.
A female victim was walking while pushing a child in a stroller when she was approached by an unknown suspect armed with a knife. The suspect sexually assaulted the woman before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to hospital and was receiving care at the time of the police's release Wednesday at 12:35 p.m.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, with a medium build and dark beard. He is an English speaker with no noticeable accent. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a black hoodie with front pockets, brown shoulders and sleeves, faded blue jeans, and brown tennis shoes.
Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area of Truro Street and Carpenter Way at approximately 5 p.m. on July 28 to contact police. Police are particularly interested in anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or who has dashcam, doorbell, or security camera footage from the area.
