A 44-year-old man is facing a sexual assault charge after an alleged attack on a woman in downtown Ottawa on Sunday, August 2.

Ottawa Police said an officer was flagged down at about 8 a.m. near the 400 block of Rideau Street and spoke with a woman who reported being approached from behind by an unknown male while out walking. The woman said the male sexually assaulted her and attempted to expose himself.

Officers quickly located a suspect nearby and arrested the person without incident. Nasir Abdi Suldaan, 44, was charged with sexual assault and breach of probation. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 18.
