A 63-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the disappearance of his 64-year-old wife.

Olga Konokhova was reported missing by Ottawa Police Service last week, with police describing the incident as suspicious. On Friday, June 26, the homicide squad reported that Viktor Konokhov had been arrested and was scheduled to appear in court.

"Olga was reported missing after last being in contact with someone in January 2026," police said in a release. "Her remains have not been located, and the investigation remains ongoing."

This is Ottawa's sixth homicide of 2026. Police have also classified the crime as a "femicide," which Ottawa Police Service defines as "the misogynist killing of women and girls because of their gender, overwhelmingly committed by men." It is the second femicide of 2026.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact the OPS Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or online at crimestoppers.ca.
