CN Tower opens off-limit areas to public for first time

The iconic structure is participating in Doors Open Toronto, giving rare access to engineering areas normally closed to visitors during a media preview this week.

The CN Tower is offering rare access to areas of the engineering marvel that are normally closed to the public. The landmark is participating in Doors Open Toronto, where members of the public get rare access to the city's architecturally significant buildings, for the first time this year.

CBC News photographer Evan Mitsui documented the tower's lesser-known parts during a media preview on Wednesday, 13 May 2026. The behind-the-scenes access provides an unprecedented look at the inner workings of one of the world's tallest freestanding structures.
