Victoria Day weekend brings fireworks, festivals and food across Toronto

Toronto celebrates the long weekend with fireworks at Ashbridges Bay and Canada's Wonderland, plus food festivals at Sugar Beach and Nathan Phillips Square. TTC Line 6 will be fully closed.

Victoria Day weekend is set to deliver celebrations across Toronto with fireworks, food festivals and outdoor dining, though transit riders should plan ahead as the TTC makes significant service changes.

The City's official Victoria Day fireworks display will light up Ashbridges Bay Park on Monday at 10 p.m.. Attendees are encouraged to use public transit and leave personal vehicles at home. In Vaughan, Canada's Wonderland will host fireworks on Sunday night at 10 p.m., featuring over 6,000 colourful explosions reaching heights of over 800 feet with multiple viewing points throughout the park.

The Festival of Flavours at Sugar Beach promises a global food celebration bringing flavours from around the world. The market will offer $5 tasting features to sample standout dishes along with free face-painting, games and salsa dancing.

Toronto Halal Bites Festival will take over Nathan Phillips Square for a three-day celebration on May 15, 16, and 17. The free festival will feature live art installations, an art gallery, cultural performances and a live cooking show. Over 20,000 people are expected to attend.

CaféTO will officially open this week as more than 290 local restaurants and bars have registered for the curb-lane patio program. Splash pads will also open to the public this week.

Weather is expected to improve just in time for the weekend. However, Line 6 of the TTC will be fully closed for the entire weekend, so transit users should plan alternative routes.
