Montreal police neutralized a shooter Monday morning in the Côte-des-Neiges borough after an incident that left two police officers and one civilian injured.
The shooting occurred near Trans Island and De Courtrai Avenues at approximately 1:22 p.m., according to Montreal police (SPVM). Police had issued an active shooter alert and asked residents to shelter in place and stay away from windows.
Guests at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn, located near De Courtrai Avenue and Décarie Boulevard, were instructed to take cover in a freezer while police responded. Heavy police presence was visible throughout the area, and sections of Décarie Boulevard were closed during the operation.
Police said the operation was still ongoing as they worked to secure the scene. The SPVM asked people to continue avoiding the affected area.
