An Air Canada flight from Toronto was struck by a Delta Airlines aircraft on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday morning, with no injuries to passengers or crew reported.

AC785 had landed safely and was being towed to the gate when a Delta Airbus A350-900's left wing made contact with the Air Canada plane's tail at approximately 10:30 a.m. local time. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.

"Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, and we apologize to our customers for the experience and delay in their travels," a Delta Airlines spokesperson said in a statement.

AC785 will be taken out of service for inspection and repairs. The extent of damage to either aircraft has not been disclosed, nor has the cause of the Delta aircraft's movement been explained. The number of passengers and crew aboard the Air Canada flight also was not stated.
