An out-of-control wildfire near Boston Bar has triggered an evacuation order for residents in North Bend, Electoral Area A, who are being told to leave now.
The Brunswick Creek fire was discovered on July 2 and has grown to 100 hectares. Officials declared a local state of emergency Sunday. Residents are advised to gather family members, pets, and essential items such as government ID.
An evacuation alert has been extended north and south of Area A at the recommendation of the BC Wildfire Service. The fire is burning on the west side of the Fraser River and is believed to have been sparked by human activity. The Wildfire Service expects the blaze will continue to grow.
