Eligible Canadian families are receiving an increase to the Canada Child Benefit, with the boost taking effect this month. Starting July 2026, the tax-free monthly payment for eligible families with children under 18 will rise to up to $8,157 per year for each child under age six and up to $6,883 per year for each child between six and 17.

Corey Hogan, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, announced the increase Friday, July 17, at Nose Creek Park in Airdrie. The move aims to help more than six million children across Canada and 500,000 families in Alberta access necessities like food and school supplies.

"This increase will give parents a little more breathing room and help our children thrive," Hogan said. The announcement was made in Airdrie because the community represents many growing Canadian cities with young families working to make ends meet.
