Canadians who are not registered to vote can do so directly at polling stations on Monday, August 31, when three federal byelections take place across the country.
Voters in the rural Quebec riding of Chicoutimi–Le Fjord and constituencies in British Columbia and Ontario will elect new MPs to replace outgoing former cabinet ministers from Vancouver and Toronto.
Elections Canada said eligible voters can register by bringing proof of identity and address just before voting. The agency recommends that unregistered electors complete an online registration form, print a pre-filled certificate, and bring it to the polls for faster service.
To be eligible to vote in these byelections, an elector must have lived in their riding between July 26 and August 31, 2026.
