Highway 1 remains closed at Boston Bar due to the ongoing Brunswick Creek and Ainslie Creek wildfires, with no reopening date set.
The closure stretches east of Boothroyd and west of Boston Bar. Traffic control has been established at Hope and Lytton to prevent access into the affected area, and overhead message signs alert travellers. The province says the closure will remain in place until it is safe to reopen the corridor.
Both wildfires saw elevated fire activity late into Wednesday evening, and aggressive fire behaviour is expected to continue. Unstable conditions are forecast for Thursday with probable dry lightning and a chance of minimal rain. Strong afternoon winds are predicted.
